The X Gene (thexgene.com) is a video production agency with a flair for producing compelling content. Storylab is a regular partner of theirs on everything from corporate video production to web series development to radio plays.

The brief
Active Feet needed an introductory promotional video to sit front and centre on their website (www.activefeet.com.au). The video needed to showcase the key talents of the podiatrists who own and run their stores and highlight their unique shoe fitting process.

The solution
We worked closely with the X Gene’s Simon J. Green to ensure we translated his carefully crafted script to the screen. With director Ben McEwing and seasoned director of photography Daniel De Silva taking care of the production side of things, we set to work to utilise the natural assets of the Active Feet team; their people. Their passion and knowledge was astounding! We shot on a Canon 5D MkII to make it look beautiful.

The result
A clear, concise and effective video that gives Active Feet’s customers confidence to walk in the store.

The Solution
Shot on location both at a footy oval and in a gym, Scott takes up and comers through a range of skills that help him with his game. We also interviewed Scott in our studio and used that to connect the skills section.

The Result
The app was an instant success, becoming the no.2 selling sports app within 15 hours of its launch.

The Brief
We teamed up with our friends at Melbourne Video Production to create a series of fun, simple activities that parents can do with their kids on rainy days and/or special occasions.

The Solution
Kidspot wanted a clean, uncluttered look, so we hired a studio with a white background, lit it to look like an infinite space and put the focus on our talented presenter, Fiona Harris, and the props/materials she was using.

The Result
Kidspot launched the videos on their website to rave reviews. They're planning a whole new series in coming months.

The Brief
Make a 15 sec TVC for the inaugural Riverboats Music Festival in Echuca/Moama to be broadcast on regional television station Prime.

The Solution
The festival had a beautiful poster that was distributed throughout Melbourne and some regional centres. We wanted to keep the style so decided to animate the poster!

With some clever work by one of our animators, we got the paddleboat steaming and the trees a-swaying.

The Result
The three day festival was sold out!

The Brief
Branding and packaging design company, Icon Partners, asked us to create a sizzle reel for an internal communication for SPC Ardmona. There are some exciting things happening at SPC Ardmona and the management team wanted to share it with the whole company (including Coca Cola Amatil, SPC's parent company)

The Solution
We wanted to take all the wonderful vibrancy that the SPC brand carries and turn it into a symbol of growth, so we developed an animated framework built around the brand's heritage: a fruit tree.

We then mixed edited reels of historical photographs, TVCs and product shots into a retrospective of SPC Ardmona and its many brands.

*NB: Some elements of the video have been blurred to maintain confidentiality.

The Result
A targeted, inspiring video that reminds all who see it of the quality and passion that SPC Ardmona brings to everything they do.

		<description>

The Brief
Create a series of 4 training videos to show to trade partners like Harvey Norman, Retravision, The Good Guys, etc. The purpose of the videos is to inform sales people about new products from the Whirlpool range.

The Solution
We first imagined what it must be like for sales staff to receive product briefings from their trade partners. Mostly boring. We wanted to turn that on its head and give them something they look forward to receiving.

So we developed a series of 4 discrete characters all relating to the products themselves. There was:
The Butler series - an out of work butler
The Crisp n' Grill/Jet Chef microwaves - a jet fighter pilot
The Sports Washer - a coach
The Cabrio washing machine - a Star Trek alien

We hired an outstanding actor/comedian, Mike McLeish, who expertly brought the characters to life.

The Result
Fun, humorous and memorable videos that will stick in the sales team's heads when they're out on the floor, selling up a storm.
We'll update this post when the sales figures start rolling in.

		<description>

We once again teamed up with our good friends at Filmtime Media Group (www.filmtime.com.au) to create a general brand video for the 370 degrees group, the people behind NECA apprenticeships (see NECA Apprenticeships video on this site.)

We were faced with the challenge of including a lot of information in a relatively short video, so we opted for a very simple and highly effective animation style.

The result is that Filmtime have been asked to create two more videos for NECA's interstate branches.

Enjoy!
